Rotary Potentiometers & Sensors
 A rotary potentiometer converts rotary motion into a change in resistance. Typically a metallic brush makes contact with the resistive material inside the sensor assembly, and when the brush is moved the voltage potential difference can be monitored
Rotary potentiometers are relatively new to motorsport applications. Over the last few years manufacturers have developed the products into smaller, lighter and more robust units and they are seeing increased use. Typical applications for this type of sensor include gearbox actuating, throttle angle and chassis movement. Rotary potentiometers tend to be available in a small number of formats, with most having a measurement range between 10 to 350. Rotary potentiometers can generally be connected directely to the cars telemetry and data acquisition system.
