Race Data Loggers & Digital Dash Displays

A racing data logger or racing dash is a device that acquires readings from one or more sensors on a racecar and stores the data for later analysis. Many racing data loggers carry out filtering, linearisation and some data reduction. The types of data logger used in Motorsport are generally multi-channel instruments, with the ability for cross-channel computations and alarms based on predetermined conditions.
Race digital dash displays are used in most modern Motorsport formulas. Dash displays are often used with separate data logging products, however some dash displays have the ability to be used as stand-alone products with an internal data logging capability. With the ability to accept signals from multiple sensors throughout the car, a driver can monitor variables such a fuel level, oil temperature and tyre pressures at the push of a button. Most racecar dash displays have integrated LED shift lights to give the driver a clear indication of the ideal shift point.
