Data Acquisition Systems - A Brief Introduction |

A data acquisition system is used to collect and analyse information gathered from the various sensors used on a racecar. Modern data acquisition systems are highly accurate, versatile and reliable with many data inputs available. Systems range from simple recorders used in ‘grass-roots’ racing to sophisticated on-board computer systems used in Formula 1.
Data acquisition systems serve as the hub of the system, connecting a wide variety of products, such as sensors that indicate temperature, level or pressure. Often the data captured by the data acquisition system is displayed inside the car on a digital dash display, enabling the driver to view the information at the push of a button. Data acquisition systems vary tremendously from manufacturer to manufacturer so it is important to select a system that will integrate well with your current setup.
